Drunk driving violates public danger and affects work rights in Taiwan!

Sample Case

Mr. Ruan, who came to Taiwan from Vietnam to work, drank three cans of beer in his dormitory at one time, and then took his friend on a motorcycle. When he was passing through a fork in the road, he accidentally hit a passenger car. After the police arrived at the scene, Mr. Ruan was given a breath alcohol concentration test. The result was that the alcohol concentration reached 0.53 mg per liter, which was a violation of drunk driving.

Analysis

•Mr. Ruan was driving drunk and had a car accident, committing a public danger crime. Those who have violated the provisions of the criminal law and whose breath alcohol concentration exceeds 0.25 mg per liter or whose blood alcohol concentration exceeds 0.05% will be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than 3 years and may be fined not more than NT$300,000.

• Employers and agents are requested to remind migrant workers that if migrant workers working in Taiwan are found guilty of drunk driving and the circumstances are serious, the Ministry of Labor will revoke their employment permits and order them to return to the country, which will affect their rights to work in Taiwan.
