Do not bring in any meat product from other countries to prevent the outbreak of African Swine Fever in Taiwan

Recently, the African Swine Fever outbreak seriously and the dead rate for infected ones is 100% and, up to this writing, there is no cure for infected swine.  As a result, how to enforce valid measures in order to prevent from getting above disease has become one of the critical issues for Taiwan’s government.

Our legislative yuan has enacted a new article (article 34, item 2) in the Statute for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Disease since Dec. 14, 2018.  Effectively from 12/18/2018, those who bring in the meat from other countries will be fined for 0.2M for the first time and 0.5M for the second, and 1M from the third time on.  At the same time, the importer/carrier will be sensed up to 7 years in prision and NT3M if his/her conducts go against the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation.  For all foreign workers and our staff, it is absolutely necessary to follow the rule strictly and do not bring in any meat from other countries to prevent from being fined and to protect those who raise swine  For detail information regarding the African Swine Fever, please refer to the following website:
