Recently, due to the collapse of a barrier lake in Guangfu Township, Hualien, the region suffered severe loss of lives and property. People from all over the country spontaneously participated in rescue efforts as "Shovel Heroes," taking action themselves to support the relief work. Both central and local governments have also launched fundraising campaigns, hoping to assist those affected by the disaster and, through united efforts, help the victims return to normal life as soon as possible.
Mr. Peter Li, Chairman of Golden Brother International Co., Ltd., and President Mr. Golden Li, deeply moved by the suffering of their fellow citizens in Hualien, joined forces with the benevolent members of the An Sui Tai Zi Charity Association to initiate a fundraising effort. The total amount of NT$1,875,000 raised was fully donated to the Hualien County Elderly and Family Care Association, a local organization that provides frontline care services for the elderly. The donation was officially accepted by the association's chairman, Mr. Yang Jie, and will be used specifically and exclusively for the rebuilding of homes and helping disaster-stricken families return to normal life.
As Laozi once said, "Heaven and Earth are impartial; they treat all things as straw dogs." In the face of natural disasters, we can only strive harder to adapt and respond proactively. It is our sincere hope that those affected in Hualien, with the care and support from various sectors, can adopt a positive mindset—“what is past cannot be changed, but the future is still within reach”—and move forward with strength and resilience, returning to a normal life as soon as possible.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all compatriots and members of the Merit Society who have contributed both financially and through their efforts.
